Executive Director: I am a graduate of the Duke University School of Nursing and practiced medical-surgical nursing at Duke Raleigh Hospital for 4 years prior to working as a TeleHealth Nurse at the outpatient clinic for Duke Pulmonary Medicine. I’ve always had a love for older adults and entered nursing specifically to care for this population.
When my father in law was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, he started getting great care at an adult daycare center in West Chester, PA. This service allowed my mother in law, who wasn’t retired yet, to continue working. He always loved being with people and the daycare provided the social and cognitive stimulation that he needed. Meanwhile, she was able to follow through with errands and stay connected to her friends who loved both of them very much. My husband and I were grateful such a service existed for our family and we felt called to use my nursing experience to provide as similar service in Apex/Cary. That’s why we started Evergreen.
My husband, Tom, is an engineer at Cisco Systems and we have 2 wonderful teenage daughters at Apex High School. Teddy, our very cool dog, recently passed away. We miss his unconditional love and affection.
Registered Nurse: Suzanne graduated from the Adelphi University School of Nursing and the Loyola University School of Clinical Social Work. She practiced nursing in intensive care units as well as skilled nursing facilities on Long Island, New York and in Chicago, Illinois. After moving to North Carolina, she worked as a quality improvement nurse for health insurance plans and as a nursing director for a senior home services agency. Suzanne loves spending time in New Bern with her retired parents enjoying golf and beach outings. She also relishes being Auntie to six joyful nieces and nephews.
Program Director and Activities Coordinator: Kim is a native of the Triangle and spent her whole life caring for elderly and disabled clients. Her vast knowledge of best practices and keen intuition for understanding people make her incredibly effective. All our clients love her and rely on her to provide the care and emotional support they need.
Program and Activities Assistant: Madchen started caring for seniors straight out of high school. As young as she is, she has developed wonderful clinical skills and a strong desire to help people make the most of their days. Always looking to do her very best, she exceeds most of our expectations and is a huge asset to our team.
